10 Small Group Ice Breaker Questions
10 Small Group Ice Breaker Questions
My husband and I were recently asked to be small group leaders at our church. We were really excited about the opportunity to grow in the Word and to grow in our relationship with God along with others in our church. But we were also nervous about what our new leadership role would require. How could we create a comfortable environment for our new small group members to get to know each other and open up? So I turned to the internet for ice breaker questions.
I searched page after page of questions, but many of them had nothing to do with the Lord. They were questions about celebrity crushes and random topics. I wanted a list that would facilitate the object of the small group- growing in the Lord. So I decided to put together my own list of questions that were specifically about the individual members and their relationship with God.
Maybe you’re leading a small group and find yourself looking for conversation starters also. If so, then you might find these ice breakers helpful:
1. Share your name and one unique fact about yourself. (It could be something like your favorite kind of cereal or an unusual talent you have.)
2. What is one thing you are passionate about? (i.e.: music, art, etc…)
3. What is God teaching you during this season of your life?
4. What are you hoping to gain through this small group?
5. What are you hoping to give during this small group?
6. What is one word that describes your relationship with God?
7. Do you have a favorite book of the Bible? If so, what is it and why?
8. Do you have a “life verse?” If so, what is it? (A “life verse” can be characterized as a Bible verse that you identify with and hold onto throughout the seasons of your walk with God.)
9. In three sentences, tell the group how you got saved.
10. How did you end up going to this church?
