DIY Blanket Ladder
Upon passing an adorable ladder blanket at the flea market, my husband said “I could make that!” I can’t tell you how much fun it is to have a husband who is not only capable of making wonderful home decor pieces, but is willing to! I must say, his turned out WAY better than the one we saw at the flea market! Below are his instructions in case you would like to make one too!
- You will need 2 planks of poplar wood, size 1x3x8 (He bought Poplar the wood Home Depot for $20)
- Cut two 5 foot portions for sides
- Cut 4 pieces, 17 inches long for the “steps”
- To angle the legs, measure an angle of 1/4′ (he had to free hand it with a skill saw since the angle was too small for his table saw)
- Pre-drill center holes starting from the top on each side at 6′, 19′, 32′, and 45′ this will leave somewhere between 15′ and 17′ on the bottom to hang a blanket without touching the floor
- Screw in each step to one side and twist them at the desired angle before screwing in the other side
- Now you are ready to stain the ladder! We stained ours with the Miniwax brand, using the dark walnut color. (We originally got this at Home Depot for another project, but it looked great on our ladder!)
Now you have a beautifully completed blanket ladder!
